PRODUCTS: Archive

Several older products produced by Special Projects and it's predecessor organizations (e.g. NOS/Strategic Environmental Assessment Division, etc.) continue to be requested by the public due to a long history of developing useful maps and coastal assessments. SP attempts to maintain a comprehensive product archive to assist with disseminating information about older data. This page focuses on past publication and Web site information created by SP and NOS. Most of the links do not provide direct access to an actual product, rather background information for following up. Please contact special.projects@noaa.gov if you have a question about a specific older product that you cannot find through one of the sources below.

Retired Web Sites

This following includes selected Web sites that are no longer supported or maintained as originally developed by SP. They have been retired as many elements have become outdated or are no longer relevant to the purposes for which they were originally created. However, much of the content of these sites is still valuable. Rather than eliminating these sites entirely, the content has been made available in PDF format (NOTE: these are large files). 1995 National Shellfish Register (download entire report, summary, or CD-ROM Image of all related data) The National Shellfish Register has been published every five years from 1966 - 1995 as a cooperative effort among the nation's shellfish-producing states, federal agencies such as the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and the Interstate Shellfish Sanitation Conference (ISSC). Its purpose is to summarize the status of growing-water classifications of the nation's commercial shellfish resources. The 1995 Register includes information on the status of estuarine and non-estuarine commercial shellfish-growing waters as of January 1, 1995. Contact: Dan Farrow
Gulf of Maine Land-Based Pollution Sources Inventory (pdf, 333 pages, 3.4MB) Contains information on the location, timing, and magnitude of point and nonpoint source discharges to the rivers, streams, lakes, and estuarine and coastal waters of the Gulf of Maine drainage area. This site offers point and upstream source pollutant estimates for a base period of 1991 and nonpoint source pollutant estimates for 1989-1995. Gulf of Mexico Land-Based Pollution Sources Inventory (pdf, 508 pages, 4.7MB) Contains information on the location, timing, and magnitude of point and nonpoint source discharges to the rivers, streams, lakes, and estuarine and coastal waters of the Gulf of Mexico drainage area. This site offers point and upstream source estimates for a base period of 1991 and nonpoint source estimates for 1989-1995. Contact: Percy Pacheco
East Coast of North America Strategic Assessment Project Groundfish Atlas (pdf, 127 pages, 2.3MB) Consists of distribution maps for 99 groundfish species off the east coast of North America. The maps, derived from trawl survey data, were developed as part of the East Coast of North America Strategic Assessment Project, a US/Canada data synthesis and mapping project, concerned with living marine resources and their habitats. 1996.
